“The Poppy” is the third painting of the Colors of Summer Collection.
This painting was inspired once again by my studio garden and a single, flaming poppy I found dancing beside my garden path. As I painted its blood-red petals, a monarch butterfly stopped to rest on a pine bough just outside my window. That is when I decided to include the magnificent monarch butterfly as my third featured insect.
Just like ‘The Rose’ and ‘The Lily,’ I used a limited palette of strictly primary colors for this poppy, this time eliminating even the white paint. Once again, I painted all the colors of the rainbow across the poppy’s flaming petals.
‘The Poppy’ Fine Art Prints are printed on archival matte paper with high-quality ink pigments. Each print is hand-signed by the artist and arrives with a certificate of authenticity.
The Colors of Summer Collection is inspired by summertime colors. Each floral painting has all the colors of the rainbow. If you look closely, each new insect included in a painting is featured in the following one as well, creating a visual timeline for when the paintings were completed. This collection completely changed how I viewed color, and I thoroughly enjoyed the process. I hope you love it as much as I do.
